The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requires that large quantity hazardous waste generators present a biennial report detailing all of their hazardous waste activities from the previous generation year. This is called the RCRA Biennial Report or the National Biennial RCRA Hazardous Waste Report.
According to the EPA, the Biennial Report form (EPA form 8700-13A/B) is required to be submitted to your EPA regional office by March 1st of every other year. This happens every even-numbered year. The next Biennial Report is due by March 1, 2018 and will report on all activities from 2017.
The EPA states that your facility needs to submit a Biennial Report if it meets any of the following criteria:
- The site generated, in any single calendar month, 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs) or more of RCRA hazardous waste; or
- The site generated, in any single calendar month, or accumulated at any time, more than 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of RCRA acute hazardous waste; or
- The site generated, in any single calendar month, or accumulated at any time, more than 100 kg (220 lbs) of spill clean up material contaminated with RCRA acute hazardous waste.
